Notes that the changeover to the euro, as the report on the first ten years of the euro has shown, has also revealed a widening of divergences in competitiveness between the euro zone economies, thus exacerbating the consequences for the economically weak countries and leading to substantial trade imbalances within the euro zone; notes, however, that the benefits of the euro for the Union as a whole, for example in terms of relative economic stability, price stability and a low inflation rate, have been substantial;
merkt op dat blijkens het verslag over de eerste tien jaar euro de overschakeling op de euro ook een vergroting van de verschillen in concurrentiekracht tussen de economieën van de eurozone aan het licht heeft gebracht, hetgeen de gevolgen voor de economisch zwakke landen nog erger maakt en leidt tot een aanzienlijke verstoring van het handelsevenwicht in de eurozone; merkt evenwel op dat de voordelen van de euro voor de Unie in haar geheel, bijvoorbeeld in de zin van relatieve economische stabiliteit, prijsstabiliteit en een laag inflatieniveau, tot dusver aanzienlijk zijn geweest;
