2. Considers, therefore, that, during the EPA negotiations, the EU should put forward as priorities the sustainable development of the ACP countries, the eradication of poverty, the protection of those countries’ economies against the effects of globalisation in cases where identical rules are applied to unequal situations, and the adoption of measures which will enable the ACP countries as well to enjoy the benefits of economic globalisation; this will make it possible to foster their proper participation in the world economy by satisfying the basic needs of the peoples concerned;
2. is derhalve van mening dat de EU bij het sluiten van OEP's voorrang moet verlenen aan de duurzame ontwikkeling van de ACS-landen en de uitroeiing van armoede, aan de bescherming van hun economieën tegen de gevolgen van de mondialisering als identieke regels worden toegepast op ongelijke situaties, alsmede aan maatregelen die moeten worden getroffen om ervoor te zorgen dat de ACS-landen ook profiteren van de mondialisering van de economie, zodat wordt bevorderd dat zij uiteindelijk ook daadwerkelijk deelnemen aan de wereldeconomie en de fundamentele behoeften van de betrokken volkeren kunnen worden bevredigd;
